Welcome Back to BC

If you are expecting to see a large or even a medium sized highway sign welcoming you to BC don't travel on Hwy. 3 because you will be disappointed. The higher sales tax and higher gas rate at the pump and seemingly endless road construction will however welcome you back, especially if your wallet is full after all of the cheaper prices for these items in Alberta. The return it fee when you buy canned pop and milk containers will be lower but so will the amount you get back when you return them if you wait to do that in BC. 

You will however be able to enjoy lots road construction which allows you to drive on new tarmac with a drop at the side of your lane and no lane markings at all. In all fairness Alberta does have road construction but the four laning of the Trans Canada from Sicamous to the BC-Alberta border had huge delays. On Highway 3 only one delay was encountered. And oh yes, there are drivers who must always exceed the speed limit by 10, 15 or even 20 kmh in both provinces! There was also a lot of headwind today and gaining back an hour as you drive west is just enough to throw one off their game and want to curl up with a book or catch up on blog post or just go to bed.
